“Unique among all God’s creatures, only the honey bee improves the environment and preys not on any other species.”
Since May 29th is the Day of the Honey Bee in Canada I want to celebrate the presence of honey bees. Indeed we should feel nothing but sincere gratitude and respect for the honey bee that provides so much to improve our quality of life and takes nothing in return. As honey bees are busily doing their job many living creatures benefit from their hard work. If you like fruit like strawberries, almonds, apples, blueberries or vegetables like cucumbers, squash or pumpkins you are enjoying the fruits of the work of honey bees. Honey bees pollinate up to a third of all our crops and it has been estimated in the US alone the value of honey bee pollination is $14.6 billion.
A side benefit to honey bee pollination is honey, royal jelly, bee propolis, bee pollen and of course what is important to Honey Candles, our natural beeswax. Bee propolis and royal jelly are considered medicinal. Propolis is considered an antiseptic, an antiviral and antifungal. Royal jelly is considered immune boosting and anti-aging. Pollen is a food supplement rich in enzymes and amino acids. Honey of course is a natural sweeter considered preferable to refined sugar. There are lots of great recipes that use honey instead of sugar. You can find many on-line or go to this link to start looking.
We use beeswax to make 100% pure beeswax Honey Candles. We make all types of natural beeswax candles from handpoured beeswax tapers and beeswax pillars to hand dipped natural beeswax birthday candles available in both Natural and assorted colors.. I feel blessed to be part of a business that is associated with the hardworking peaceful honey bee. The Honey Candles staff like to think some of the qualities of the honey bee exist in each and every one of us.
